Come and try on the clothes
The three owners of Stilkompagniet.dk have filled Lindebjerggård with clothes, shoes and jewelery - and hold a weekly opening day
By Nis Olsen
The walls are covered with large shelving systems, the floor occupied by long rows of clothing racks: here there are blouses and jackets and dresses and coats and shirts and trousers and other women's clothing as far as the eye can see. And jewelry and shoes.
The impressive selection of clothes from many collections fills two large extensions at Lindebjerggården on Lindebjergvej near Gurede. It is both warehouse and showroom for the Stilkompagniet.dk webshop, which is owned by Signe Dørge, Stine Lorentsen and Britt Siesbye.
Up to 2,000 item numbers
The webshop is four years old, and now the three owners have decided to expand with a showroom, where customers every Thursday from 12 to 18 can try the wide selection of clothes, shoes, jewellery, accessories and beauty products. There are around 2,000 item numbers to choose from.
- We started the webshop in the main building on the 1st floor, but then the clothes grew down the stairs and out onto the ground floor. Then it was time to put the extensions in order and move out there, says Signe Dørge.
- Many of our customers shop on the webshop and collect from the warehouse themselves. But there has been a demand to be able to see and try the goods, which is why we now open every Thursday afternoon, explains Signe Dørge.
Arnold Sørensen's great-grandchildren
It is her and her husband, Mads Lorentsen, who put up buildings for the webshop and showroom. Mads Lorentsen is the 9th generation at Lindebjerggården. He and his sister Stine Lorentsen are great-grandchildren of Arnold Sørensen , who had Lindebjerggården and later Enghavegården. Arnold Sørensen was also mayor of Tuse Næs and later of Holbæk municipality after the merger in 1970.
The three owners have divided the many tasks between them. Signe Dørge and Stine Lorentsen are mostly responsible for practical matters, including purchasing, while Britt Siesbye handles accounting and orders from abroad.
Own brands offer better prices
And there is a lot to take care of. They are at fashion fairs twice a year, and there are continuous purchases from the suppliers, who present four to eight collections a year. Among the well-known brands are Steve Madden, Yas, Selected Femme, Sissel Edelbo and Munkholm. And there are bags, sunglasses and accessories from YSL, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Mulberry, Celine and Valentino.
Stilkompagniet also differs by having its own brands, Sassy Copenhagen and AndCopenhagen, with both jewellery , accessories and clothing. It takes time to both design, produce and purchase.
- When we have our own brands, we cut out the middleman. That's why we can keep a good price, says Signe Dørge. The jewelery from AndCopenhagen is also sold in shops in Scandinavia, Greenland and the Faroe Islands, and the jewelery comes to the fashion fairs in Copenhagen and Paris, where it can be sold to shops.
Uses themselves as photo models
Signe Dørge has a background in project management. After giving birth, the family moved here to Næsset to be able to work less.
- But it has become more work instead. It's a way of life. We invite people into our own wardrobe and make it personal. When Stine and I are in a cafe or take the children to Tivoli, we take pictures and post them. Then the customers can see what we sell on social media and identify with it, says Signe Dørge.
And it seems to be working. Both the warehouse and the showroom at Lindebjerggården are busy, where five employees ensure that all the packages are ready to be sent out to the customers before the mail arrives.
